This year, category Focused on introduces a representative from the American continent: Mexico. This country has long ceased to be regarded merely as an attractive setting for American films or an occasional source of exotic divas and desperados. It is a country that has recently produced film such as Love’s a Bitch, Duck Season or And Your Mother Too. A collection comprising of films from the period of last twelve years displays, apart form shorts featuring the stars-to-be Salma Hayek and Gael García Bernal, a glimpse of the latest Mexican production, the Student Oscar winner and the only Mexican winner from Cannes.
