The Right for Tradition, HIV/AIDS: Global Appeal, You Have a Right to Know, Women’s Voice, Generation Next, North Korea: For Ever?, Focus on Iraq... These are just some of the themes of this year’s seventh annual One World 2005 international film festival of documentary films about human rights. It takes place from April 27th until May 5th and will screen over 120 films from all around the world, in a number of cinemas including Světozor. One World is not just a festival showing documentary films about painful issues, it is also a way towards freedom and human dignity. Film and media help to establish this freedom by creating a dialogue between various viewers. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with the festival’s guests: makers of the films, representatives of various NGOs and journalists. The Světozor cinema will simultaneously exhibit a collection of Alexander Pola’s photographs, depicting the results of the repression in Cuba in March 2003.
