(Von einem der auszog – Wim Wenders' frühe Jahre)
Marcel Wehn / NĚM, 2006
German / Czech subtitles, 100 min
Marcel When’s documentary traces the early career of Germany’s most famous internationally recognized (next to Fasssbinder), post-war directors. The film focuses on the director's life prior to his departure from Germany to the USA following his international breakthrough with his film The American Friend.
In conversations with Wenders, as well as with some of his most noteworthy companions, When paints a broad picture of the early development of Wender´s career. Excerpts from some of Wenders’ earlier works complement the documentary.
The portrait of Wenders’ early life and work unfurls the highly visible links between his film work and his autobiography in a gentle and accurate way. Without pathos, Wim Wenders describes in great detail how he was drawn to film, rather more hypnotically than he had intended.
The screening with the personel presence of the director Marcela Wehna! The partner of the screening is Goethe-Institut Prague.
