The Edge of Heaven

Fatih Akin’s ensemble film tells a story of six people from Germany and Turkey, who don’t know each other, but whose lives intersect and finally connect in a fateful way through someone’s death… The Edge of Heaven, in which Hanna Schygulla also performs, is the second part – after the 2004 Berlinale winner „Head-On“ – of Akin’s trilogy called “Love, Death and Devil”. At this year’s film festival in Cannes, the film was nominated for the Golden Palm and won the award for the Best Screenplay. Akin says, the film deals in „various facets of what remains when people irrevocable have to separate“.
