Metropolis

“A story from the future” about a hypermodern city of Metropolis where the luxury of the upper classes is redeemed by hard work of the workers living in dark underground cells. The only comfort the workers have are words spoken by a maiden called Mary… The film is dominated by the poetics of Fritz Lang, one of the biggest film makers of the 20th century and unprecedented, technically brilliant special effects. Metropolis is the first cinematographic piece of art recorded in the UNESCO list (in 2001).
