(Tal til mig)
Anne Katrine Talks / DÁN, 2007
original version / Czech subtitles, 28 min
Karen, who has been deaf since birth, is extremely active. She studies the complicated theories of the French philosopher Michel Foucault, and three years ago had a son called Oskar. To her surprise Oskar can speak, so Karen has to come to terms with seeing him sing for the first time without being able to hear it. But for the help of her loving sister Katrin she would find it hard to overcome the barrier between her silent world and the surrounding world of sound and noise. However, despite Katrin's invaluable help the likable Karen has a nervous breakdown and ends up in a psychiatric clinic. This intimate and very sensitively shot film, directed by Katrin herself, gives us an insight into the often poorly understood and incorrectly explained inner world of the deaf.
