Short tekno movies

The techno scene and the rave culture spread their firm roots in our country already in the beginning of the 90s. In the course of time, it became an important phenomenon with an enormous influence on the alternatively-oriented part of the young generation. However, because of the brutal authority’s interference on Czechtek, the previously underground phenomenon turned into a political issue and in the end it nearly became the mainstream. This was evident at the last Czechtek, which, after an agreement with the authorities, took place in the military training area in Doupov.

However, the creativity of the techno scene does not only limit itself to music and dance parties, but it has also spread into the sphere of graphic design in the form of album covers, t-shirts, posters and other items of visual art. This evening of Documentary Mondays is dedicated to other visual manifestations of this scene, demonstrated through the medium of film and photography production. In the course of the evening, we will be screening a series of documentaries by authors who are connected with this subculture – from a dissertation thesis on freetekno through DIY Street Karneval to the montage from a theatre-play inspired by Czechtek.
