Michael Haneke / USA-VB-FR-D-IT, 2007
English version / Czech subtitles, 111 min
Anna and George take their son on a trip to a cottage by a lake. Suddenly, two seemingly innocent guys turn up. They decide to stay overnight and play a dangerous game – they bet that by the morning, Anna, George and their son will be dead. There is apparently nothing to stop the ever increasing violence. The story of Haneke’s film seems to be a classic "slaughter-all" film. It is, however, a remake of the director’s own film from 1997, whose self-reflective concept has been retained. As a consequence the thrilling film is an denunciation of the continuous depiction of violence, which we often enjoy watching.
