Sami Mustafa / SRB, 2007
Romanes version / Czech and English subtitles, 20 min
Best known as the site of Kosovo's main camp for war-displaced minorities, the village of Plemetina is also the longtime home of several extended Romany families. Their history, traditions and music - "the sound of our identity" - are the focus of this short documentary created by village youths under the guidance of Romawood, a production house launched last year by Plemetina native and documentary filmmaker Sami Mustafa. An engaging glimpse at a new generation of Roma, proud to honor their elders' ways but equally ready to forge their own path.
