English version / Czech subtitles, 74 min

April 5, 1968, the day after the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. As rioting erupts in America's inner cities, James Brown flies into Boston for a scheduled gig. Fearing an influx of angry blacks into the city center, the newly elected mayor plans to cancel the concert but is convinced by a young black councilman to not only let the show go on but to broadcast it live on TV in hopes of keeping people off the streets. This VH1-produced documentary reconstructs the seething tension of the time, analyzes Brown's ambivalent relationship with the civil rights movement and shows the Godfather of Soul at his dazzling best, both as a showman and as a leader.
