(Sonic Youth: Sleeping Nights Awake)
Michael Albright / USA, 2006
English version / Czech subtitles, 84 min
On July 4, 2006 seven Reno, Nevada high school students are handed digital cameras and let loose at a Sonic Youth show with total access. Having mentored generations of indie rockers, the band handles the teenage riot with patient amusement, putting up with the ever-present kids with their cameras and questions, playing a bit of basketball, toying with a stunning collection of customized guitars and discussing burritos, beer and bass. Not to mention giving an electrifying performance. Developed by the nonprofit youth film program Project Moonshine, this witty and unfussy doc presents one of the most influential bands of the last 25 years in a refreshing new light.
