The Silent Holy Stones

Similarly to the first Bhutanese film The Cup, this first truly Tibetan film tells a story about the intermingling of traditional and modern culture while focusing on young Buddhist monks and their fascination with television. This time TV represents a way to watch classic legends in a new treatment. The hero of the film, a young monk in training, is mesmerised by the TV series The Journey to the West which he watches on VCD while visiting his parents, and wants to show it to his elders who all admire the classic legend of Triptaka and the Monkey King.
