(Haeundae)
Yun Je-gyun / ROK, 2009
Korean version / English and Czech subtitles, 120 min
The Haeundae district in Busan is famous for its beach which hosts a number of social and culture events such as the Pusan International Film Festival. This favourite tourist, shopping, business and leisure centre is the setting for the first ever Korean disaster film. The big-budget spectacle about a gigantic tsunami rolling over Haeundae became one of the most anticipated domestic releases of 2009. The film employs the typical Hollywood tropes, but combines them with distinctive local features and the very specific Korean broad humour.
