Tokyo Trash Baby

Ryuichi Hiroki gained international acclaim in 2003 with his award-winning drama Vibrator, but in Japan he was already renowned as an author of films about women. He usually focuses on sexuality, sensuality and emotions and uses them to demonstrate the inner development of his heroines. In this story about a girl whose platonic love for a musician is manifested by her collecting his trash, Hiroki uses the quirky but sensitively portrayed heroine as a parallel to the consumer culture of Tokyo.
