CIANT presents the New York music scene of the early 70s documented by The Vasulkas firt time in full version!

The founders of the legendary videolaboratory "The Kitchen" in New York, Steina and Woody Vasulkas, tested the first portable tape videorecorders on musical performances by Jimi Hendrix (Band of Gypsys, 1969), Miles Davis ("Bitches Brew" live, 1970), Herbie Hancock, Ten Years After, Ron Ayers, Don Cherry and other stars. Only short excerpts were selected for the compilation called PARTICTIPATION and the raw material from two cameras was kept in Vasulkas’ place in Santa Fe. Curator Petr Vrána went there in September 2011, digitalized theis material and today he offers it to Czech audience. Organized by CIANT | International Centre for Art and New Media.
