Persona non grata

Persona non grata is a universal psychological drama staged against the background of the intrigues in the diplomatic circles in Montevideo. Wiktor, Polish ambassador in Uruguay is an unusually honest man, who was active in the democratic opposition during the communist era. Grieving after the death of his wife, he meets his Russian old-time-friend Oleg, who is now serving as a deputy minister of foreign affairs. Their friendship is marked by two suspicions: According to Wiktor’s thoughts, Oleg may have been appointed to the embassy just to infiltrate the Polish opposition. The second suspicion is more personal: Wiktor is suggesting that Oleg may have been his wife’s lover.
