Cheese and Jam

Written and directed by Branko Djurić, lead actor in the Academy Award-winning No Man’s Land, Djurić also stars as the cigarette-smoking, beer-drinking, football on TV-watching half of a ‘mixed relationship’ (he’s Bosnian, his long-suffering partner is Slovenian). Although the film’s scope encompasses racism, immigration and xenophobia, it has moments of comedy and, as the film itself declares, it really ‘could have happened anywhere’. Although it shows much of the dark side of life, it is nevertheless a love story.
