Baltasar Kormákur / IS, 2012
Icelandic version / Czech subtitles, 95 min
Gulli is a big, burly man who is part of a fishing boat crew in Iceland. Gulli and his crew board their ship despite warnings of rough weather and waters. The boat capsizes, throwing all of its occupants into the freezing waters off the Icelandic coast. Gulli tries but fails to save his fellow crew members. He begins to swim and, inexplicably, makes it back to shore. His explanation of the accident sounds far-fetched to his fellow townsfolk. Scientists are called in to determine whether a miracle or a hoax has occurred. Inspired by true events, director Baltasar Kormákur delivers an exceptional, epic film about the very basic human instinct for survival.
